What Should I Wear to Worship?

The good news is that you have a wide variety of options on what you can wear.  On any given Sunday, you can expect to see some of our members dressed in suit and tie and others in shorts and tennis shoes.  The rule of thumb is to wear something that you will be comfortable in and won't distract others from their worship experience.  If you are most comfortable in a tie, dress, jeans, or shorts, then that is what you should wear for worship.

What if I ____ ?

As for the questions of what if . . . As in what if I grew up in a different denomination, if I haven't been to church before (or in a long time), if I have tattoos, if I am married or divorced, etc.  Know that you are in good company.  We are a church of imperfect people who are doing their best to love God and love others.  We come from different backgrounds, denominations, and life experiences.  All are welcome, no matter what!  At the same time, we recognize that you may feel some trepidation about your particular situation, so feel free to contact Pastor Jesse so he can answer any questions you may have.

Where Should I Go When i Get There?

We are excited about your coming and we reserved parking space just for you. When you arrive at the church, look for the visitor parking signs.

Enter the building to your right at the first door you encounter.  Someone should be there to greet you and direct you to where you need to go, but in case we miss you, follow the signs to our worship space on the third floor.

If it would put your mind at ease, feel free to Plan Your Visit.

What’s going on with the sanctuary?

You’ve probably seen the God At Work sign in front of our sanctuary, or have heard that we are currently worshipping in a gymnasium.

In 2016, the roof of our sanctuary began to deteriorate. We had recently installed solar panels and the walls began bowing causing structural damage. We quickly moved worship to our Family Life Center and began connecting with engineers and contractors to determine the strength of our roof. As soon as we started, we began to run into problems, the insulation of our sanctuary was all asbestos and a remediation project was started to clear the old insulation. Finally, we were able to see the full extent of the damage and realized the sanctuary could not be recovered.

We’ve engaged an Architect and are working diligently on a rebuild plan, you can find more information on our Sanctuary Project page.

What about my kids?

For Middle School and High School youth, there is weekly Sunday School at 9:00 AM and youth group Sundays at 5:00 PM.

Of course, children are always welcome in worship and you will regularly find children in our congregation in leadership roles in the worship service.

We’ve even prepared a special place for children in our sanctuary, named the Pray-Ground, which is an area in the front of our sanctuary specifically set aside for young children during worship.  It consists of small tables with child-sized chairs and stools, coloring sheets, crayons, and other soft toys.

We also have Pray-Bags which have a host of activities for any young children who want to sit with their grown-ups instead of at the Pray-Ground Tables, see an usher for a bag!
